What areas in the Columbia Gorge do you serve, and do you charge a travel fee?
Our primary pet care provider is based out of The Dalles. We proudly travel to surrounding Columbia Gorge communities, including Dallesport, Lyle, White Salmon, Hood River, and all the way to Parkdale. Visits within a 20-mile radius of our provider's home in The Dalles do not incur a travel fee. For clients living outside of this 20-mile radius, a standard per-mile rate is added to cover travel expenses.
What happens during the initial "Meet & Greet," and is there a fee?
Our initial Meet & Greet is 100% free! We come to your home to meet you and your animals, walk through exact care routines, and learn the layout of your home. Because we are Fear Free Certified, your pet's comfort is our top priority. Depending on your animal's unique personality, we can also offer a trial walk or drop-in visit to ensure they are fully comfortable with their pet sitter entering the home and handling them.
How do you handle severe Gorge weather, winter storms, or wildfire evacuations?
We have tried to think of everything to keep your animals safe. Our safety protocol includes:
Onboarding & Local Contacts: We require an in-depth onboarding form with local emergency contacts, such as a nearby neighbor or friend who can step in if roads become completely impassable.
Built-In Team Backup: We work as a collaborative team. A secondary pet sitter is always fully informed of your pet's schedule and details, standing by to step in if the primary sitter becomes unavailable.
Weather Accommodations: We do whatever it takes. We will hike up snow-bound driveways to reach your animals, stay overnight or extend our hours if a major storm threatens travel, or even bring animals to our own homes if a wildfire evacuation threatens your property.
